School Assistance and Intervention Team

Madera County Office of Education is a State Board of Education approved provider for SAIT. The purpose of SAIT is to investigate and provide intensive support and monitoring to assist state-monitored schools in improving student learning. Schools identified as state-monitored are schools participating in II/USP and the High Priority Schools Grant programs that have failed to make significant progress during the years of plan implementation. The definition of “significant progress” depends on the program in which the school participates.
The process the SAIT uses in its investigation is also a tool that can be used by districts and schools to evaluate current programs and practices prior to a school being identified as “state-monitored.” This same process may be used for schools who may be in danger of, or have already been identified for Program Improvement.
