Cognitive CoachingSM, offered throughout the region, is a model that employs a set of effective communication skills for the purpose of mediating another person’s thinking. Its purpose is to allow participants to become skilled in assisting another in becoming a more self-directed learner.
Strategies learned include trust building, rapport, and use of wait time, paraphrasing techniques, effective inquiry, and minimizing unproductive responding behaviors. The eight-day training provides theory, demonstration, practice, and coaching on the strategies used.
The benefits of Cognitive CoachingSM being offered as a regional program are:
-
building the capacity of existing administrative staff
-
providing a pool of trained coaches to support new and aspiring administrators entering a district
-
collaborating with the counties of Region VII (Fresno, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, and Tulare) to customize the logistics of the training offered
Training opportunities include:
- attending a cohort that is pre-scheduled at your convenience
- creating your own district/county cohort for those interested in building capacity within your organization
- dates and location would be scheduled at your convenience
- would need a minimum of 25 participants with a maximum of 35
- build capacity of exiting administrative staff within the districts and counties of Region VII
